2. Ask for it
It is rarely effective to just wait for your boss to offer you a bonus, sometimes you need to be vocal to get what you want.
If you never ask, you never know.
How to ask for a raise?
Schedule a meeting with your boss, and choose a good day/timing (after lunch, and not Friday afternoons where people are rushing off).
Asking for a raise:
- know what you’re worth (market rate)
- highlight your achievements
- reiterate that you are committed to the job
- ask for a progression roadmap
Be open to the outcome, and actually listen to what your boss has to say.
Even if a raise or promotion is not possible right now, ask about what you can do to make this happen in the near future.
This shows that you are serious about your future in the company.
3. Climbing up the ladder
If you really want a raise at work, you need to climb the corporate ladder.
You have to make yourself visible to higher management.
Be in the right places, and take on additional responsibility.
