June Holidays are here and you don’t need to leave sunny Singapore to have a good time.

Let’s check out some cheap and cheerful things to do in Singapore.

Here’s 10 amazing ideas for fun outings —plus insider tips to beat the crowds, the heat and hidden fees.

1. Chase the eco-glow at i Light Singapore 2025

Marina Bay, South Beach & Singapore River light up from 29 May – 21 Jun with 20-plus sustainable art installations.

Start your walk just after sunset and circle the bay anticlockwise; you’ll finish near the outdoor F&B booths if the kids need a treat.

Pro tip: Weeknight visits after 9pm are usually less crowded, and you’ll snag unobstructed photos of fan favourites like the up-cycled “Glacier Dreams” dome.

2. Fill a Children’s Season 2025 stamp booklet

Pick up the free booklet at any of 23 participating museums, then trade completed activity pages for prizes.

The trail runs 31 May – 29 Jun.

Pro tip: Cluster venues—Peranakan Museum, National Museum and Armenian Street partners sit within a 10-minute walk—to collect three stamps in half a day.

3. Catch nightly free gigs at Esplanade

The arts centre programmes at least one complimentary show every evening at the Concourse, plus outdoor weekend sets.

Genres swing from taiko drums to K-jazz—check the “Free Programmes” calendar the morning you go.

Pro tip: Arrive 15 minutes early; the stepped seats fill fast. For restless toddlers, stand to the side so you can leave easily.

4. Book an NParks Guided Nature Immersion

Rangers lead 60- to 120-minute walks through the Learning Forest and rainforest groves at Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Slots in June are complimentary but require online registration.

Pro tip: The 8 am sessions are cooler and mosquito-lite—pack water, sunblock and a small towel for post-walk picnics on Palm Valley.

5. Hang out with Stitch at the Children’s Festival (Gardens by the Bay)

For three weeks (4 May – 15 June, 10am – 9pm), the Supertrees become a Hawaiian-themed playground inspired by Disney’s Lilo & Stitch.

Kids can conquer a 7-metre inflatable slide, roam the “Forest of Belonging” and complete a free activity-trail booklet to redeem Stitch stickers. Entry to the festival grounds and most installations is 100% free (only workshops and carnival games are ticketed).

Pro tips: Arrive before 11am or after 6 pm; the biggest crowds hit mid-afternoon once families finish lunch. Pack water misters and slip into the air-con at Cloud Forest (paid) if you need a breather.

Pop over the Dragonfly Bridge to Bayfront MRT for an Esplanade or Marina Bay light-up evening without paying extra transport.

6. Hike the Southern Ridges to Henderson Waves

For people who love walks, try out ten kilometres of elevated walkways link Mount Faber to Kent Ridge.

The forest canopy keeps things surprisingly shady.

Pro tip: Start from HarbourFront MRT at 7 am, reach Henderson Waves by 8 ish for a skyline sunrise, then exit at Alexandra for breakfast at Gillman Barracks.

7. Fly kites & picnic on Marina Barrage’s Green Roof

Singapore’s favourite breezy rooftop is open 24/7 and costs nothing.

Duck into the free Sustainable Singapore Gallery (10 am–6 pm) if it rains.

Pro tip: The wind is strongest 4–7 pm; buy a $5 kite at the basement shop or BYO. Pack a picnic mat—grass can be damp after afternoon showers.

8. Watch the HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Music Show at Jewel

The 40-metre indoor waterfall dazzles nightly (Mon–Thu 8 & 9 pm; Fri–Sun 8, 9 & 10 pm).

Forest Valley trails are free all day.

Pro tip: Best viewing platform is Level 2 West near Shake Shack—arrive 10 mins early for rail-side spots.

9. Scale, slide and splash at Coastal PlayGrove

East Coast Park’s mega-playground (open Tue–Sun, 8 am–8 pm) packs a four-storey slide tower, rope nets and a wet play zone.

Pro tip: Bring rash guards and water shoes; the splash pad’s rubber flooring heats up by noon. Showers and lockers sit behind the play area.

10. Cool off in Happy Park, Waterway Point

This Punggol mall’s Level-2 rooftop hosts a dual wet-dry playground (10 am–7 pm daily, free admission).

Combine with a riverside cycle on the adjacent Park Connector.

Pro tip: The park closes for deep cleaning every Wednesday; plan a Thursday visit for freshly scrubbed equipment and shorter queues.
